Adding live chat used to mean plugins, developers and a week of setup. With TalkRobin it’s one line of code. Here’s how to do it on the most popular platforms.
Step 1: Get your install line
Create a free TalkRobin account, then open Settings → Install TalkRobin and copy the line for your website. It already includes your website token.
Step 2: Paste it into your website
- WordPress: install a header and footer plugin such as WPCode and paste the line into the footer section.
- Shopify: go to Online Store → Themes → Edit code, open theme.liquid and paste it just before </body>.
- Wix: Settings → Custom code → Add code. Choose “Body – end” and “All pages”.
- Webflow: Site settings → Custom code → Footer code, then publish.
- Custom sites, React or Next.js: add it to your main layout so it loads on every page.
Step 3: Check it’s working
Back in TalkRobin, select “Check installation”. Then open your website in another tab. You should see the chat bubble, and yourself as a live visitor on the Monitoring page.
Five settings to change on day one
- Match the widget color to your brand.
- Write a friendly welcome message, such as “Questions? We usually reply in a few minutes.”
- Set business hours so visitors know when to expect a reply.
- Invite your teammates so chats don’t wait for one person.
- Turn on visitor alerts on the Monitoring page so you know when someone arrives.
That’s it. Your website now has a front desk.
